Microsoft 365 Archive Overview
Microsoft 365 Archive is a cost-effective, long-term storage solution for inactive SharePoint content that maintains the same searchability, security, and compliance standards as active data.

- Lossless metadata: When a site is reactivated, all of its permissions and metadata are kept intact.
- Decluttering: To assist you in managing the lifecycle of your website, clearly identify content that is active and that is not.
Microsoft 365 Backup Overview
Microsoft 365 Backup provides a reliable solution to help you recover and restore your data quickly and easily in case of malicious or accidental data deletion. With Microsoft 365 Backup, you can fully protect your important data by backing up all or just some SharePoint sites, OneDrive accounts, and Exchange mailboxes.
The following are some further benefits of utilizing Microsoft 365 Backup:
- Fast backup in a matter of hours.
- Full SharePoint site and OneDrive account restore fidelity, meaning the site and OneDrive are restored to their exact state (excluding, for example, taxonomy mastered outside the site scope) at specific prior points in time via a rollback operation.
- Restores of entire Exchange mailbox items or specific items using search for items that have been changed or removed.
- Cohesive domain management for compliance and security.
Setting Microsoft 365 Archive and Microsoft 365 Backup in PRISM
This is a step-by-step guide that explains how to use PRISM to provision Microsoft 365 Archive under a CSP Azure subscription. The same procedure also applies to Microsoft 365 Backup.
- Within PRISM, navigate to the Microsoft CSP program tile.
- Navigate to the Manage Existing Tenants tile or Create New Tenant if required

Search for your tenancy, select Manage then select Add New Azure Pan

Give the subscription a name (SPArchive in our example).

Once provisioned, check the subscription by selecting Manage

Set relevant notification and configure Partner access level

To create Resource Groups, sign in to the Azure Portal at portal.azure.com.

In the search field, type resource Groups, and then click.

Click Create, or use an existing resource group if you already have a subscription.
- Select the Subscription you just added (AzureCSP_SPArchive)
- Give the resource Gorup a Name (RG_SPArchive)
- Select the Region you would like this stored in. -
Click Next, add your preferred tags, check, and then create.

Go to the portal.office365.com, the M365 admin portal, and log in to the tenancy (or access through partner Centre)

Scroll down, choose "Go to Syntex settings" then "Set up pay as you go."

Choose the previously configured details for the Resource Group.
- Azure Subscription (AzureCSP_SPArchive)
- Resource Group (RG_SPArchive)
- Region (Australia Souteast) -
Read and accept the terms.
- Choose the desired archive or backup from the list.
Once pay-as-you-go billing has been enabled for Microsoft Syntex on Microsoft 365 admin center, Microsoft 365 Archive can be enabled.

Choose Turn on from the Archive panel, then pick Confirm from the confirmation pane.

You can now archive content directly from the SharePoint admin centre because Microsoft 365 Archive has been enabled for you.
In order to disable Microsoft 365 Archive:
1. Choose Archive from the Manage Microsoft Syntex page.
2. Choose Turn off from the Archive page.
