Understanding Foreign Exchange Rates and their use in PRISM
What is a Foreign Exchange (FX) Rate?
Foreign exchange (Forex or FX) is the conversion of one currency into another at a specific rate of the day or period, known as the foreign exchange rate.
For example: to convert United States Dollars (USD) $ to Philippine Pesos (PHP) ₱, a USD-to-PHP FX rate would be utilised.
Who do FX Rates affect in PRISM?
An FX rate will be used to calculate pricing in PRISM when: the currency of a Vendor Program in PRISM differs from the currency you wish to buy in. For example, The Microsoft CSP Program for Malaysia has pricing sourced from Microsoft in USD; however, purchases in Malaysia must be in MYR; therefore, a USD-MYR is used to create local currency pricing.
To understand the structure of each Vendor Program, we suggest reviewing the program guide for that program, which is available for download under the Vendor Program tile in PRISM.
